Pööbel, Gastro Pub, Tallinn

Overview

We have been to Pööbel a few times for drinks, once for dinner, and once for snacks, and have always found this to be a very pleasant, totally dog-friendly gastropub in Tallinn with a good selection of food and drinks at reasonable prices. Pööbel offers not only good standard pub dishes such as chicken wings and Schnitzel, but also dishes highlighting Estonian ingredients and traditional foods.

Atmosphere & Dog-Policy/Welcomeness

Pööbel is a very cozy pub with dark woods, stone, and an open fireplace, and offers plenty of space for furry friends. In summer, there is also outside seating behind the main building. On all our visits, the staff have been friendly, and given the number and sizes of dogs we have seen, all dogs are clearly welcome.

Food

Our experience is very limited as we have only eaten here twice. While we were happy with the food we were not not blown away it. For dinner, we had some perfectly pleasant chicken wings, an excellent beef liver pâté, and a sound pork schnitzel. We had the chicken wings again in February 2025 and while tastsy, not as spicy or crispy as we like, but that is a style choice. Nevertheless, all of the food was fresh, tasty, and reasonably priced. Other interesting foods on offer are those focusing on Estonian ingredients and styes such as the open sandwiches served on barley bread, Baltic herrings, home-smoked salmon salad, and the Estonian beef burger.

Drinks

They offer a wide selection of beers, spirits and cocktails along with a few wines by the glass and bottle. We have enjoyed a few different draft beers, a couple G&Ts, gin on the rocks, and a glass of wine. All the drinks were well served and reasonably priced, so we have zero complaints.

Summary

If you and your furry friends find yourself in this part of town or fancy a walk outside of the center and are looking for a nice dog-friendly gastropub in Tallinn, then Pööbel is a great choice. We think it would be especially welcoming on a cold winter’s night given the lovely and cozy atmosphere and building.

Location

Pööbel is located outside of the city centre, just a minute or two walk from the von Stackelberg Hotel, Park Inn Hotel by Radisson, and the wonderful Kiosk NO 1.
