Location
Balti Jaama Turg is another great dog-friendly international food court in Tallinn. As it is located on the opposite side of Tallinn from Viru Food Court and is a great option for dog-friendly dining, especially if staying at Hestia Hotel Ilmarine. It is also within walking distance from Park Inn and von Stackelberg hotels, making it accessible even for those staying elsewhere.
Atmosphere
Unlike the modern Viru Food Court, Balti Jaama Turg is set in an older building, creating a vibrant market feel. It offers a mix of food stalls, local crafts, and clothing vendors. The food court has over 10 different vendors serving a variety of world cuisines, including vegan and vegetarian options. There is a spacious indoor seating area, making it comfortable for visitors, including those with dogs.
Vendors We Have Enjoyed
- Samsa Family Bakers – Offers delicious Uzbek pastries (Samsa and Tšeburekid) for €3–€6. The quality is great, though service can be inconsistent.
- Baojaam – The Pork Belly Bao (€11) was tasty, with a light, chewy bun and well-flavored pork, though not as crispy as preferred. The crispy chicken version (€9.90) looked promising.
- NUFACE – Dan-Dan Noodles (€8–€10) are fresh, flavorful, and have a good spice level, though the taste varied slightly on different visits.
- Café Cape Town – The Spicy Chicken Curry Pie (€7) had a rich, flavorful filling and buttery pastry, making it well worth the price.
- Pelmen – Pelmeni were excellent and reasonably priced. Cold local beers in bottles.
- VLND Burger – Delicious, flavorful burgers with soft buns and crunchy fries.
- Bad Habits – Only had beers here, but friendly staff and dog-friendly.
Price
Overall, food at Balti Jaama Turg is reasonably priced for the quality, with most dishes ranging between €3–€11. Some items, like the curry pie, initially seemed pricey but proved to be good value due to their high-quality ingredients and preparation.
