Overview

Tuulensuu is a stylish and relaxed dog-friendly gastropub in Tampere with an extensive selection of draft beers and consistently excellent food. We’ve been many times over the past few years, and it remains one of our favourite spots—great food, great drinks, and always a warm welcome for both us and our dog.

Atmosphere & Dog-Friendliness

The staff are consistently friendly, attentive, and genuinely welcoming to dogs—Bertie is always made to feel right at home. The place has a slightly German pub feel rather than Belgian, but either way, it is cosy and relaxed, making it a great choice for both casual lunches and special dinners.

Food

The menu is creative, well thought out, and clearly made with care. Over multiple visits, we’ve tried quite a few dishes, and everything has been high quality and full of flavour. The pelmeni are a recurring favourite—served in different ways depending on the season, and always superb. Other highlights include the fried lamb’s liver (not on the menu anymore as this was updated), deer starters, cheese pie, lamb meatballs, and the pork schnitzel, which rivals some of the best we’ve had.

Portions are generous, presentation is good without being fussy, and the quality of ingredients is top-notch. We return often not just because we know what we like, but because the food always feels like it’s been made with pride.

We think Tuulensuu offers excellent value for money, especially given the level of quality and consistency.

Drinks

Their draft beer list is excellent, with a rotating selection of local and international options—including favourites like König Pilsner and Nordic Brewery IPAs. The Piconi (a Negroni with Picon) and Arctic Blue Gin & Tonic are cocktails we return to again and again. The wines by the glass have also been consistently good.
