Overview
Plevna is a relaxed, dog-friendly brewpub in Tampere offering a wide selection of house-made draft beers and hearty, German-inspired food. Part of the Finlayson complex, it’s a comfortable spot for lunch, dinner, or just a pint—and a great place to stop before heading elsewhere for a meal.
Atmosphere & Dog-Friendliness
While the main dining area has a classic German beer hall feel, it is NOT dog-friendly. However, the enclosed terrace is dog-friendly and offers a comfortable and cozy space with plenty of room for dogs. We usually sit on the bench seating, which our dog Bertie loves. The space is casual, spacious, and accommodating.
Food
The menu leans heavily toward German-style comfort food but includes some Finnish touches like smoked fish and salmon soup, plus vegetarian and fish options. We’ve tried the meatballs, sausage platters, schnitzel, and a fried plate—all satisfying and well-prepared. The sausage dishes, in particular, are authentic and generously portioned. While our experience is mostly limited to lunch, everything we’ve had has been enjoyable and good value.
Drink
Plevna is best known for its extensive selection of house-brewed beers, with a rotating tap list and a range of styles—from lagers to IPAs and dark beers. We’ve mostly stuck to the draft options, which are consistently excellent. Wines, bottled beers, and cocktails are also available, though we haven’t tried them.
Summary
Plevna is a solid choice for anyone looking to enjoy quality beer and hearty, Central European-style food in a relaxed, dog-friendly setting. The staff are friendly and efficient, and it’s an easy place to spend a few comfortable hours. We also recommend it as a casual pre-dinner drink spot—especially before heading to nearby Nanda Devi for something a bit different.
