Overview
Located in the Lapland Hotel in Tampere, Dabbal is a stylish, dog-friendly restaurant and bar in Tampere with a menu centred around the cuisine and ingredients of Lapland. While not extensive, the menu offers enough variety to appeal to many tastes, supported by a strong drinks list featuring quality beers, wines, spirits, and cocktails. Excellent food, great staff, and lovely atmosphere combine to make this one of the best fine dining options in Tampere, on the same par as Kattilla and Kajo in our opinion.
Atmosphere & Dog-Friendliness
Tastefully decorated and cosy, Dabbal avoids the “typical hotel restaurant” feel. There is plenty of space for furry friends, the service is warm, professional, and perfectly timed, making both people and dogs feel welcome and valued. We never feel rushed and always feel welcome and relaxed.
Food
The Lapland-inspired dishes are beautifully presented, carefully balanced, and full of flavour. Standouts from our visits include a delicacy plate of smoked fish, cured meats, cheeses, and breads; a rich and complex artichoke soup; perfectly cooked reindeer served two ways; and a crisp-skinned, moist Pike-Perch. Dessert was a refined crème brûlée with homemade ice cream and fresh fruit. Portions were satisfying despite the elegant presentation.
We have also been a few times for their Pinxtos during the annual festival and have always found them to be some of the best on offer.
Drinks
Cocktails are a particular strength—one of the best Negronis we’ve had in Finland, alongside an excellent G&T. The drinks list also includes Lapland beers, well-selected wines, and quality digestifs. Prices feel fair for the quality.
