Overview

We have now been to Kaheksa four times and have been very impressed each time, thus we cannot recommend this elevated tapas place highly enough!! Kaheksa is an upscale dog-friendly tapas bar in Tallinn old town that is set in a wonderful old building. It has a good selection of excellent food and drinks at reasonable prices, the service is fantastic, and there is plenty of space for furry friends. As you will see from the review below, this place is highly recommended.

Atmosphere & Dog-Policy/Welcomeness

Kaheksa has one of the loveliest settings and atmospheres of all the restaurants we have been to! It is set in a beautiful old building with lovely stone and wood, making it an extremely welcoming and comfortable place to enjoy excellent food and drink. They have done a great job mixing the old and new, providing a stylish, chic, yet very comfortable space. Importantly, they have not crowded too many tables in, so there is plenty of space for you and your furry friends.

Food

While we have not yet eaten our way through the whole menu, we have tried enough dishes to confidently say the food here is exceptional! We have always been extremely happy with the food and drinks, actually, that is an understatement: we were blown away! Everything we have had has been great, and many excellent, for example, the Bacalhau (salt cod) croquettes (maybe no longer available), chicken croquettes, pan con tomate, monk fish, salami plate and bread, tuna tataki, and steak in sherry sauce were all fabulous. However, the standout dish each time was the amazingly decadent chicken livers cooked in sherry; everything was perfectly prepared, and all the flavours married perfectly. Every time we have been, we feel so lucky to have found this place and respect the young owners and staff hugely: well done!!

Drinks

Kaheksa offers a decent selection of bottled beers, spirits, cocktails and wines by the glass and bottle. So far, we have enjoyed some excellent Negronis, some lovey Cava, Spanish red vermouth, a few bottles of ice-cold Estrella Damm (330ml are in bottles), and a few different glasses of excellent red wine. All the drinks were served very well, of high quality, and reasonably priced, so we were again very happy.

Price/Value for Money

In our opinion, Kaheksa offers fantastic value for money, especially given the excellent quality, great service and wonderful location and atmosphere. We always eat and drink more than we should (and more than most; we asked) and the bills have always been between €85 and €100 , leaving me checking the bill to see if they missed something!

Summary

If you and your furry friends find yourself wanting a dog-friendly tapas bar in Tallinn old town (with a difference), then Kaheksa is a great choice (maybe the only choice). Excellent food, drinks, atmosphere, and service!! Must go!!!
