dog friendly Delicia Tallinn

Delicia (Italian Restaurant), Tallinn

Overview

We’ve now visited Delicia 5 times and have thoroughly enjoyed ourselves on each occasion, so we cannot recommend this lovely dog-friendly Italian restaurant highly enough! Delicia is located in the heart of Tallinn old town, just a short walk from Hell Hunt and several popular bars. It boasts a spacious and inviting atmosphere, a broad and interesting Italian menu, and a very good drinks list. While not the cheapest place in town, the high-quality food and drinks, great service, and welcoming ambience make it an excellent value for money. As you’ll see below, Delicia has become one of our go-to favourites in Tallinn.

Atmosphere & Dog-Policy/Welcomeness

Delicia has a warm, relaxed charm that makes you feel right at home. Set in a lovely old town location, the interior is stylish yet comfortable. With our small dog, we’ve never felt cramped, but those with larger dogs may want to reserve a window or downstairs table. The staff are always friendly and efficient, and the calm, unhurried atmosphere is perfect for long, indulgent meals.

Food

Our experience of the food at Delicia has been consistently excellent. The menu is broad and interesting, and over several visits, we’ve sampled a wide variety of dishes—each one thoroughly enjoyed. We have began with the Vitello Tonnato a couple times, a beautifully executed version featuring tender veal and a creamy, tangy tuna, caper and anchovy sauce, topped with large capers.

We’ve also shared some outstanding pasta dishes, including the Spaghetti alla Gricia, perfectly al dente with a rich, peppery pecorino and guanciale sauce—no cream or eggs, just as it should be. If you would like to make this at home, try our version, simple but delicious! We also very much enjoyed the Tagliatelle de Agnello (lamb ragout, semi-dried tomatoes, olives and basil), but it possibly could have benefitted from slightly more broken-down lamb and a few more olives. Either way, we enjoyed the dish so much, we again decided to create our own version that can be easily made at home.

One of the highlights was the Baccala alla Siciliana—a rustic baked cod dish with roasted vegetables, olives, capers and parmesan. Perfectly cooked, full of flavour, and a real surprise hit, especially as we’re usually wary of cheese with fish or tomato sauces!

On later visits, we tried more delicious dishes like Ravioli ai funghi porcini in truffle sauce, Mezze Maniche al Tonno with tuna and capers, rich duck with orange sauce, and a fabulous grilled sea bream. The “Mezze Maniche al Tonno”, a delicious pasta dish consisting of rigatoni in a fresh tomato, tuna, olive, and caper sauce, was so good, we immediately tried to recreate it when we got home and are very happy with our results. In June 2025, we added a lovely mushroom and truffle risotto to the list—well-cooked and full of flavour.

A final note: we often order one dish at a time and like to share. The staff are always happy to accommodate this, even splitting portions for us, which is a thoughtful and much-appreciated touch.

Drinks

Delicia offers a well-chosen selection of drinks, and over several visits, alongside sparkling water, we’ve enjoyed Campari on ice, solid Negronis, local Saku beer (both draft and bottled), and several very good glasses of the house red. Meals have often ended with a Fernet Branca or two. Everything has always been well served and of good quality. That said, drink prices have gradually increased over time and are now at the higher end for Tallinn.

Price/Value for Money

Given the excellent standard of food, lovely setting, and quality drinks, we still think Delicia offers great value. Our bills have been €120 and €145 on different visits, which included four dishes, generous drinks, and great service. For this level of quality and experience, it’s hard to find better. You certainly won’t feel short-changed.

Summary

If you’re looking for a high-quality, dog-friendly Italian restaurant in Tallinn old town, Delicia is a fantastic option. Authentic food, great service, quality drinks, and a welcoming atmosphere for both people and pups—Delicia ticks all the boxes and then some. Highly recommended!!
