Morel Tallinn

Morel Bistroo, Tallinn

Overview

We have only been to Morrel Bistroo twice so far, but have been hugely impressed with this fantastic dog-friendly European restaurant outside of Tallinn’s old town. The food is innovative and delicious, the drinks excellent, and the service fabulous. Michelin-quality dining at pub prices—amazing! Fantastic dog-friendly restaurant Tallinn.

Atmosphere & Dog-Policy/Welcomeness

Morel has a bright, cozy, and relaxed atmosphere that pairs perfectly with the food and drinks. It’s also spacious and very dog-friendly—suitable even for larger dogs, especially if you let the staff know in advance.

The service has been truly excellent: friendly, unpretentious, efficient, and never intrusive. We have a quirky habit of ordering one dish at a time to share, and it has been handled without fuss each time we go—no confusion or raised eyebrows, just smiles. Many great restaurants are let down by service, but not here—the excellent food is made better because of the service!

Food

The food at Morel was outstanding across the board. Every dish showcased top-quality ingredients, perfectly cooked and beautifully presented—truly Michelin-level, but served with a relaxed, unfussy charm.

On our first visit we started with the fabulous homemade focaccia and creamy hummus, followed by crisp, flavourful bacon croquettes. For mains, we shared two excellent pasta dishes—the homemade pasta was a real highlight—and a perfectly cooked hanger steak with frites. On our second visit, we had a similar experience with all the food including the pasta, but this time tried the crispy chicken, which was excellent! Great good at very reasonable prices.

Every bite was a pleasure. Refined yet approachable, Morrel delivers seriously good food without the fuss.

Drinks

We have so far had some excellent Negronis, very good local beers and excellent glasses of wine. The drinks list is well curated, with everything served properly and of good quality.

Price/Value for Money

We were genuinely surprised—and extremely happy—at how reasonable the prices were. The homemade focaccia was a bargain at about €2, Hummus €5, and all the other dishes, from starters to pasta, were between €10 and €15. Even the hanger steak came in under €20. For food of this quality, it felt like exceptional value.

Summary

If you’re looking for a high-quality, dog-friendly European bistro just outside Tallinn’s Old Town, Morrel Bistroo is a fantastic choice. Innovative, beautifully presented food, great drinks, excellent service, and a warm, relaxed atmosphere—for both people and pups. With Michelin-level quality at surprisingly reasonable prices, Morrel is a true gem. Highly recommended!

Location

Morrel is located quite far from the old town, but is only a short taxi ride from hotels such as Park Inn by Radisson Meriton Hotel, Tallinn and the Van Stackelberg. However, no matter where you are located in Tallinn, Morrel is worth the trip!!
