Monika Centrum Hotel, Riga

We have only stayed at the Monika Centrum Hotel once but had a very pleasant stay. The hotel is perfectly located for travellers with pets as there is a large park right across from the hotel. Also, it is a relatively short walk (15 to 20 minutes) to the old part of Riga, there are a number of restaurants (including Old Hong Kong and Casa Nostra), bars and cafes in the area, and the hotel offers reasonably priced parking should you need it.

In terms of the rooms, as stated, our knowledge is very limited given we only stayed once (2 nights). We stayed in a Junior Suite with large double bed, so the room was very spacious and comfortable. The room was a bit dated, but given the traditional and historic nature of the hotel along with the reasonable price, this was not an issue for us. The main points for us were that the rooms and linen were all very clean, shower was nice and hot, there was a mini fridge and tea/coffee making facilities, and good WiFi. The only issue we had was that the air conditioning (central system) was not powerful enough to really chill the room, but we were in the middle of an extreme heatwave (+35 degrees C), so not really the hotels fault. We did not have breakfast; I had a look, but it did not seem overly inspiring, so I opted for a coffee shop over the road.

All in all, we had a very pleasant stay and are happy to recommend the Monika Centrum Hotel, especially given the great location for us and our dog. In addition, while I am not 100% sure, I do not believe we were charged for our dog.

In summary, if you are looking for a traditional style hotel rather than a more modern/generic one, want a hotel near a park to walk your furry friend, and do not want to be so in the thick of the tourist areas, then the Monika Centrum Hotel is a great choice.
