O’Connell’s

This is a comfortable and relaxing dog-friendly Irish-themed pub that serves a wide selection of draft beers and ciders, bottled and canned beers, and spirits. They also offer cocktails and some wines by the glass. In addition, O’Connell’s has a fairly extensive food menu including hot sandwiches, pies, salads, and classics like Fish & Chips, Sausages and Mash/Chips, and Chicken & Chips. There is also have a wide selection of board games (in English) that are free to use. 

We have only ever had the draft beer and have not eaten here (but the food looks and smells good), so this review is very limited. However, we wanted to add a review because it is a very nice dog-friendly pub.  There is no reason why we have not eaten here other than we have put O’Connell’s in the “drinks place” bracket for some reason, but we will eat here soon and then update this post.

I usually have a Guinness (€8.50) or Kilkenny (€8.50), both of which are very good, and my partner usually has the standard Finnish lager (Karhu III at €6), but has also tried some other more crafty Finnish and European lagers (around €8 to €9).  The Karhu is fine but possibly a little flat, but the other lagers have been good. The pub has a “happy hour” during the first two hours of opening every day when all draft beers and ciders are €2 off. This makes it one of the cheapest beers in town!

We have always found the staff very welcoming and friendly, they always offer our dog water (and often a few treats), and the pub has a cosy, relaxed atmosphere.

So, if you are looking for a relaxing place for a drink (with or without your furry friend) and maybe some interesting sounding and delicious smelling bar food, this place is a very good option.
