BORG Kitchen & Bar

We have only been here once, so our experience and knowledge of Borg is extremely limited. However, this seems like a very comfortable bar and restaurant that offers an extensive menu plus a good selection of drinks.

While we are not sure about the dog policy, I got the impression that it is on a case-by-case basis, so if anyone knows more about this, please let us know. Nevertheless, the staff were helpful, and welcoming towards both us and Bertie.

First, the various menus offer a wide selection of delicious sounding choices with a limited number of vegetarian options. Borg offers a couple of set menus, an à la carte menu (with about six starters, six mains plus snacks and burgers, and four desserts), a brunch menu, and lunch menu. However, we have only experienced the lunch menu, which was extremely tasty, well-prepared, and surpassed our expectations given the price of €12.70.

The lunch menu includes a salad bar, bread, a freshly prepared plated main, and tea or coffee. The salad bar was possibly a little more limited to some we have had, but offered plenty of fresh and tasty salads and bread. For the main, we both opted for the salmon (Fried salmon fillet, capers cream, lemon potatoes, and vegetables) and found it to be delicious. The salmon was clearly fresh, was perfectly cooked, the sauce was yum, and the vegetables were perfectly al dente. All in all, we were extremely satisfied, especially after being turned away from many places because of the dog.

In terms of drinks, they offer a few draft beers, bottled beers, wines by the glass or bottle, and plenty of other drinks. However, we just had a couple beers (Karhu III, €7.50, 0.5L), which were cold and crisp and went down a treat.

In summary, while our experience is very limited, we thought Borg was a very comfortable venue with very tasty and well-prepared food, nice beers, and friendly staff. In addition, everything was great value for money; the bill was €40 for two beers and two lunches. We left Borg very happy and fortified for our trek (by bus and on foot) to the beach on a cold day. Highly recommended.
