Hotel Kalliohovi

We had a thoroughly enjoyable stay at the Hotel Kalliohovi in Rauma, and were very impressed with the staff, the room, the amenities, and the value for money. Very highly recommended for anyone staying in Rauma, whether travelling with a pet or not.

This seems like a newly refurbished hotel with comfortable public spaces including a small bar area and an outdoor terrace (which we were not able to use due to the weather). In addition, the room (Comfort Queen) was immaculately clean, spacious, and the bed was extremely comfortable.  The bathroom was small but well-designed and had piping hot water and good water pressure. The room has air conditioning, kettle, mini bar, and safe. We did not have any of the mini-bar drinks but brought our own wine to have in the room, and when I asked for ice from the bar, an ice bucket was happily given with no attitude. Another great aspect of this hotel is that free parking is provided, on street or in a covered car park a minute or so from the hotel.

For those thinking about staying with dogs, while our dog was totally welcome, he was not offered treats, a blanket/dog bed or water bowl, so bring what you need. However, given the very reasonable charge for the dog (€10) we did not mind so much. The only negative point we had was that dogs are not allowed in the restaurant, but as noted in our review, he was fine at the table in the hotel lobby, which is more than most of the hotels we have been in.

In terms of other facilities, the hotel has a sauna freely available for guests, but we did not use this so have no idea what it is like. Also, the in-room Wi-Fi was easy to connect and seemed to be very fast. Prices obviously vary depending on season and availability, but the price for a Comfort Queen without breakfast is around €100 per night.

Overall, we had a great stay here and will definitely stay again when we next go to Rauma; highly recommended.
